Ashutosh Mukherjee

Ashutosh Mukherjee was an Indian mathematician, educator and judge who served multiple terms as vice-chancellor of the University of Calcutta in the early twentieth century. Trained originally in mathematics, he used his position to found numerous new departments, colleges and postgraduate teaching programs across the sciences and humanities, reshaping higher education in colonial India, while also sitting as a judge of the Calcutta High Court.
