Cecil Frank Powell

Cecil Frank Powell was a British experimental physicist. He developed photographic emulsion techniques for recording the tracks of subatomic particles and led the team whose work discovered the pion, a particle that had been proposed theoretically by Hideki Yukawa. He received the 1950 Nobel Prize in Physics for heading the team that developed the photographic method of studying nuclear processes and for the resulting discovery of the pion.
