Clinton Joseph Davisson was an American experimental physicist. Working with Lester Germer, he showed that electrons scattered by a nickel crystal produce a diffraction pattern, demonstrating that electrons behave as waves as well as particles. He shared the 1937 Nobel Prize in Physics with George Paget Thomson for this experimental discovery of the diffraction of electrons by crystals.
