Karl Bleyl

Karl Bleyl (1908-1995) was a German entomologist who specialized in the study of Hymenoptera, the insect order that includes bees, wasps and ants. He began collecting insects at age six under the mentorship of entomologist Ernst Heidenreich, and over his lifetime assembled a significant collection of Hymenoptera, particularly bees of the superfamily Apoidea, now preserved at the German Entomological Institute.
