Maximilian Haider is an Austrian physicist, born in 1950, known for his contributions to electron microscopy, particularly developing aberration-corrected transmission electron microscopy in collaboration with Harald Rose and Knut Urban, a breakthrough that let electron microscopes reach a resolution of about 50 picometers, comparable to the radius of the smallest atom. He received the BBVA Foundation Frontiers of Knowledge Award in 2013 and the Kavli Prize in Nanoscience in 2020. He received the Wolf Prize in Physics in 2011, shared with Rose and Urban.
