Polykarp Kusch was a German-American physicist. He made a precise measurement of the magnetic moment of the electron and found that it exceeded the value predicted by existing theory, a result that prompted a reconsideration of quantum electrodynamics. He shared the 1955 Nobel Prize in Physics with Willis Lamb for this precision determination of the magnetic moment of the electron.
