Ralph Marvin Steinman was a Canadian physician and medical researcher at Rockefeller University. In 1973, while a postdoctoral fellow in the laboratory of Zanvil A. Cohn at Rockefeller, he discovered and named dendritic cells. Steinman was one of the recipients of the 2011 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine.
