Richard F. Heck was an American chemist noted for discovering and developing the Heck reaction, which uses palladium to catalyze the coupling of aryl halides with alkenes. He shared the 2010 Nobel Prize in Chemistry with Ei-ichi Negishi and Akira Suzuki for palladium catalyzed cross couplings in organic synthesis.
