Surya Ganguli

Surya Ganguli is a Kolkata-born, United States-based researcher who holds a background in theoretical physics and now works at the intersection of theoretical neuroscience and deep learning. A professor at Stanford University with appointments in applied physics, neurobiology, computer science and electrical engineering, and a visiting research professor at Google Brain, he directs Stanford Neural Dynamics and Computation Lab, studying how networks of neurons and synapses cooperate across scales of space and time to enable perception, motor control and cognition. His honors include the National Science Foundation CAREER Award, the Simons Investigator Award, the McKnight Scholar Award and a Sloan Research Fellowship.
