Torsten Nils Wiesel, born in Sweden in 1924, is a neurophysiologist known for his research into visual neuroscience. In collaboration with David H. Hubel, he made discoveries concerning how information is processed in the visual system, work recognized with the 1981 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine, shared with Hubel and Roger W. Sperry.
