Yu Deng is a Chinese mathematician and professor of mathematics at the University of Chicago, known for his contributions to partial differential equations, fluid dynamics, and probabilistic analysis. His work includes a derivation of the Boltzmann equation and of wave kinetic equations from nonlinear dispersive systems. He was awarded the Fields Medal in 2026, becoming one of the first two Chinese citizens to receive it.
