Universities and Colleges

The University of Jena, formally Friedrich Schiller University Jena, is a public research university in Thuringia, Germany, founded in 1558. Its chemists, physicists and biologists worked closely with the Zeiss optical works in the city, and Ernst Haeckel taught zoology there. The atlas links scientists to it where their cited articles say they studied or taught there, and records the university as one of the German centers of optics and the life sciences.
