The American Society for Virology is the principal professional society for virologists in the United States, founded in 1981 as the first scientific society in the world dedicated exclusively to virology. It seeks to facilitate the discovery and dissemination of knowledge about virus biology across every domain of life, holds an annual scientific meeting, and publishes and supports research training in the field.
