Jorgen Christensen-Dalsgaard

Jorgen Christensen-Dalsgaard is a Danish astronomer born on 6 October 1950, at Aarhus University in Denmark, who specializes in asteroseismology and helioseismology, including predicting the oscillation of Sun-like stars in 1983. He is co-investigator on the Kepler mission and, with Hans Kjeldsen, leads the more than 500 researchers of the Kepler Asteroseismic Science Consortium, responsible for the asteroseismology component of the Kepler mission; he obtained his PhD from the University of Cambridge in 1978 under Douglas Gough. He was awarded the 2022 Kavli Prize in Astrophysics and the 2024 Crafoord Prize in Astronomy.
