Kristen Nygaard

Computer Science

Kristen Nygaard was a Norwegian computer scientist, programming language pioneer and politician. He is internationally acknowledged, along with Ole-Johan Dahl, as the co-inventor of object-oriented programming and the Simula programming language in the 1960s, and he and Dahl received the 2001 ACM Turing Award for their contribution to computer science.
