Michael Perryman is a British astronomer born September 21, 1954 in Luton, known for leading the European Space Agency Hipparcos and Gaia space astrometric projects, which measured the positions and distances of stars with unprecedented precision. He shared the 2022 Shaw Prize in Astronomy with Lennart Lindegren.
