Robert P. Kirshner is an American astronomer, born in 1949, recognized for his work on Type Ia supernova studies, large scale structure and supernova remnants, and for research applying supernovae to measure cosmic expansion. He received the Dannie Heineman Prize for Astrophysics in 2011 and the James Craig Watson Medal in 2014. He is Chief Program Officer for Science at the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation and Clowes Research Professor of Science at Harvard University. He received the Wolf Prize in Physics in 2015, shared with James Bjorken.
