Trond Helge Torsvik is a Norwegian geophysicist born October 12, 1957, in Norway, who is a professor of geophysics at the University of Oslo and directs its Centre for Earth Evolution and Dynamics. His research addresses geodynamics and the physics of geological processes, including the study of continental drift and plate tectonics through Earth history. He is a member of the Norwegian Academy of Science and Letters, elected in 1996, and the Royal Danish Academy of Sciences and Letters, elected in 2008, and he received the Leopold von Buch Award in 2015, the Arthur Holmes Medal in 2016, and the Wollaston Medal in 2024.
