W. Albert Noyes Jr.

W. Albert Noyes Jr. (1898-1980), full name William Albert Noyes Jr., was an American chemist known for his contributions to photochemistry, who taught and did research at the University of California Berkeley, the University of Chicago, Brown University, the University of Rochester, where he chaired the chemistry department, and the University of Texas at Austin. He was also a leader in United States defense research during the Second World War and an advocate for international scientific cooperation. He and his father were the first father-son pair to win the Priestley Medal, the American Chemical Society highest honor.
