William Lawrence Bragg (1890 to 1971) was an Australian-born British physicist who in 1912 to 1913, while still a student, derived the law relating a crystal's diffraction angles to the spacing of its atomic planes and used it with his father to solve the first crystal structures, including table salt. He shared the 1915 Nobel Prize in Physics at twenty-five, still its youngest laureate, and later directed the Cavendish Laboratory.
