Carnegie Mellon University is a private research university in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, formed in 1967 by the merger of the Carnegie Institute of Technology and the Mellon Institute of Industrial Research. Herbert Simon and Allen Newell developed early work in artificial intelligence there, and the university is known for computer science and robotics.
