Debendra Mohan Bose was an Indian physicist who contributed to the study of cosmic rays, artificial radioactivity and neutron physics, and who, together with Bibha Chowdhuri, was among the first to discover mesons. He served as the longest tenured director of the Bose Institute, from 1938 to 1967, and was a nephew of the physicist Jagadish Chandra Bose, regarded as a founder of modern science in India.
